This page explains what happens to your information when you visit RecordNests. We've tried to write it in plain English rather than dense legal filler — if anything here is unclear, just ask us directly.
The short version
We don't sell your data. We collect a small amount of information through cookies (mostly for advertising and understanding which articles are useful) and through our contact form, and we use Google AdSense to show ads and Amazon and other retailers' affiliate links to fund the site.
Information we collect directly
If you use our contact form, we store the name, email address and message you submit so we can reply to you. We don't add you to any mailing list from this — it's only used to answer your message.
Cookies and advertising
Like most sites that run on ad revenue, we use cookies. Some are set by us to remember basic preferences; most are set by third parties:
- Google AdSense — we use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings, or read more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- Analytics — we may use analytics tools to see which articles get read, so we know what to write more of. This data is aggregated and isn't used to personally identify you.
- Affiliate cookies — when you click a link to Amazon, B&H Photo, DJI or another retailer, that retailer sets its own cookie so they can credit us if you make a purchase. We don't control what those cookies do — check the retailer's own privacy policy for details.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so may affect how ads are shown to you, but won't stop you from reading the site.
Your rights
If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK/EU GDPR to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you (for most visitors, that's limited to whatever you sent us via the contact form). If you're in California, similar rights apply under the CCPA. To make a request, just contact us and we'll sort it out.
Children's privacy
This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone in that age group.
Third-party links
Articles on this site link out to retailers, manufacturers and other resources. Once you leave our site, their own privacy policy applies — we're not responsible for how other sites handle your data.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. We'd recommend checking back occasionally if you're curious.
